In fact the Quetzal is really the end of the story, the rest being about the people who revere it and the country, Guatemala, in which, with luck and perseverence, it can be found. The cloud forests of Central Ameria are a unique environment, and those in Guatemala in particular are under threat from loggers, mining companies, drug runners and the greed of 21 century man. Other countires, such as Costa Rica, have better conservation programs but nowhere is the quetzal or the forest secure.
